ABOUT US

Mike and Kathleen Langlois are the owners and managers of Ridgewood on the River a thriving RV seasonal camping resort which lies directly on the Wisconsin River's Biron Flowage and is located in the Town of Plover within beautiful Portage County.  The Langlois' getaway resort provides affordable River access to locals as well as people from across the State and beyond who would otherwise not have this opportunity.  Many years ago Mike and Kathleen had a vision for a riverboat offering food and beverage services, and that vision has finally come to pass.  Mike grew up on the Biron Flowage and has always had a desire to provide a way for others to experience the wildlife, natural scenic beauty and boating activities that the River provides. Kathleen has always had a desire to serve people good food and drink as they relax and enjoy good times with family and friends.

Mike a certified commercial designer and builder, and Kathleen a licensed professional mechanical engineer began working together professionally as owners of a systems engineering firm in the mid-90's and have never stopped working together. They have now merged their past business experiences and passions into The Sandbar. The Sandbar like Ridgewood on the River is family owned and family operated. Helping Mike and Kathleen is their son Zac, who like his dad also grew up on the River and shares the same vision and passion as his parents to provide a unique boating and River experience for people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to get out on the water. So in the summer of 2017, the family decided to finish a riverboat Mike had started building 10 years prior.

Zac has been working at Ridgewood on the River since age twelve, is in the U.S. Air Force National Guard, and has recently graduated from UW-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in Real Estate & Land Economics He is also planning to attend UW-Madison's Real Estate masters program and law school. Zac is co-owner of the Sandbar, and is the Operations Manager and Captain.

The Langlois family wants to acknowledge all those that helped get The Sandbar up and running: The Town of Plover, United States Coast Guard, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Noonan Arendt Law, State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue, and Portage County Health & Human Services. The Sandbar is fully licensed and insured, and ready to provide the public with the opportunity to experience 15 miles of navigable River between the Blue Heron Boat Landing and the Biron Dam.
